Actions Speak.
Vision may account for much of what The
Waters has become but action is the reason
why. For Ed Welch and Dale Walker, the life-
long Montgomery residents who founded the
community, that's no surprise. Because
they've risen to the tasks before them for as
long as anyone can remember.
It shows in their personal lives. Ed, a father,
grandparent, veteran and church Elder for 35 years. Dale, a devoted husband to Ed's daughter, Jenny, and the man who brought the whole family together on land just adjacent to The Waters.
It's also clear in their professional dealings, like Ed's stewardship of the locally successful Stegall/Sylvest Seed Company into the $85 million institution purchased by Occidental Petroleum in 1979. Or, as its first President, leading Colonial Bank in its formative stage towards becoming a $17 billion regional success story.
The same goes for Dale's entrepreneurial spirit and extensive local business achievements. From Investment Banker and Vice President with Morgan Keegan, one of the nation’s leading Regional Investment Banking firms, to his increasingly prosperous operations for both The Timberlands and United Country Land Crafters, a companion firm.
Today they've turned their attentions to The Waters, a project that, for them, transcends mere real estate development to embody their two passions -- family and business. Perhaps that, more than anything, explains why the commitment that has driven our success is found in such abundant supply.
